How does online swapfam work?

Online escrow is a five-step payment process that protects Buyers and Sellers in a transaction. Swapfam.com holds the funds in trust while goods and/or services are delivered from Seller to the Buyer. Swapfam.com only releases the funds once the Buyer has received and accepted the goods and/or services.

How long does the escrow process take?

While most transactions are completed within 1 to 20 business days, transaction timelines are still unique to each transaction and depend on the steps below. You can estimate the timeline of your transaction below: Account Creation and Verification: Account creation is quick and simple. You simply fill out the required fields on Swapfam.com. However, for transactions over $3,000, all users of the transaction will need to complete an individual or company account verification. Once uploaded, your verification documents will take up to one business day for Swapfam.com to review. Buyer's Payment Method: Buyers may pay for their transactions via wire, credit card, or PayPal. For Buyers with accounts in the United States, they may also pay via ACH. Wire payments are processed within 1 - 5 business days. PayPal and credit card payments are processed within one business day. Payments received during the weekend are processed on the following business day. For more information on the payment options, click here. Delivery time: Delivery from Seller to Buyer depends on the delivery method, and whether Buyer and Seller are transacting digital goods, physical goods, or services. Swapfam.com requires all trackable and tangible merchandise be sent via a shipping method that allows online tracking and insurance. Inspection Period: The Buyers and Sellers select the Inspection Period, which is between 1 - 30 days. Disbursement Method: Sellers can receive funds via domestic or international wire transfer or domestic ACH payments. Domestic wires are generally received within 1 business day, international wires within 3 - 5 business days, and ACH payments are generally received within 3 business days. Sellers receiving disbursements valued in excess of $500,000 USD are required to receive funds via wire transfer. Additional Services: Timelines for Milestone Transactions, Domain Name Holding Transactions, and Vehicle Services Transactions with title or lienholder services may be longer as a result of additional rendered services. How does Swapfam.com protect me?

Swapfam.com holds funds while goods move and services are completed. Swapfam.com ensures Sellers are paid when they deliver goods or complete agreed upon services, ensuring Buyers receive a refund if goods are not delivered or services rendered. Swapfam.com also vets Buyers and Sellers to ensure fraudulent users are removed. How Buyers are protected: The Seller isn't paid until the Buyer inspects and accepts the merchandise or services or the agreed-upon Inspection Period expires. Full or partial refunds can be issued if there is a problem with the goods or services. Swapfam.com verifies delivery of trackable merchandise to the Buyer via online trackable shipping data the Seller provides to Swapfam.com How Sellers are protected: Sellers receive their funds once they deliver the goods or services, the Buyer accepts the goods or services, or the agreed-upon Inspection Period expires. The Seller is notified to ship the merchandise and services once Swapfam.com confirms funds have been approved and secured from the Buyer and all anti-fraud regulations have been met. If merchandise has been returned, we verify delivery of trackable merchandise to the Seller via a tracking code or as provided by the Buyer. The Seller is protected from unexpected chargebacks.

When should I use Swapfam.com?

Swapfam.com may be used for transactions involving the sale of most goods and services. We are ideal for high-priced goods and services (above $500 USD), also when Buyer and Seller have no prior understanding. We’re often used for purchases on auction sites, classified ad sites, business-to-business e-commerce sites, and online merchants. Swapfam.com is not currently used for real estate transactions. Key Considerations for Intellectual Property: Software and Patents

Yes, the Seller must provide the Buyer appropriate documentation to prove ownership and rights to transfer. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, the following: Software licensing documentation Appropriate software installation keys and codes Ownership transfer forms Patents Copyright forms from the U.S. government In addition, we strongly recommend the Seller draw up an “ownership transfer document” stating specifically the intellectual property being traded with authorized signatures of both Buyer and Seller. Some customers have attorneys draw up transfer documents; however, this is not necessary in every case.
